Thanks for sharing your Bible time method with us. I just told my husband about the way you do it and we agreed it is the better way! Right now we are all reading an entire chapter and going around the room twice. That is way too much to digest and the children's minds start to wander. We usually don't even discuss it because by the end the littler ones are all over the place. Less is far better then more when you have the time to digest and discuss what you have read. I have been reading your blog for years and it blesses me greatly. This is the first time I post because I have been a bit shy as we do not agree doctrinally, but we surely do have the same mother hearts and love of the Lord!

Hi, Heather,
We often have evening devotions without Daddy because the evenings usually find him out visiting, preaching or teaching.
We all gather in the family room before the children's bedtimes. Everyone gets their Bible (we have a Bible Shelf in the family room for the children and it perfectly fits all 12 Bibles :) ). We start off with prayer and singing. Usually Daddy (if he's home) and/or Timothy play guitar. We sing hymns and let different children pick out the songs each night.
When Daniel's home, he'll either teach whatever is on his heart. When he's not home, we pick a book of the Bible and simply read through it taking turns (all who can read) one verse at a time. We usually go around the room two times and talk about what we read. We do this each night until we finish that book and then choose another one.
I'll often talk with the children also about anything that is on my heart. Often times we'll have a time of confession...if anyone has anything they haven't made right that day with another, they can take care of it right then before they go to bed.
We sometimes end with a song and always with prayer. Then everyone puts away their Bibles and it's hugs, kisses, and good night for most of the children. :)

That is exactly what I thought! I loved having something new and encouraging to read after having a new little one! All that nursing/cuddling time. :)
I know probably everyone would have been blessed by the book, and so many my heart went out to wanting to give them one too, but we all prayed before we did the drawing because we know the Lord knows best :)

You want to know something? I had a big smile on my face while I was reading the whole process for the name draw, I've seen how other people do it with the random number generator but this definitely is a funier way to do it. My smile did not diminish when I saw Jessica won =D Congratulations to her and thank you again and your family for all your work.
